Origin Story - Heart of Worship Night
The worship night ministry began back in June of 2020 during the infamous COVID lockdowns. During this time, Ben Kopriva and David Carter were both 19 years old, and they were fed up with the lack of resistance churches nationwide were giving the government. They felt as though the gathering of Christians were being neglected, which they felt contradicted a direct order from the scriptures. Even very recently the Douglas County Commissioners have issued a cease and desist letter citing "church and all church activities." “Let us not neglect meeting together, as some have made a habit, but let us encourage one another” (Hebrews 10:25).
This tension led to the first worship night taking place. Initially, it was David Carter, Will Kopriva, Joe Kopriva, and Ben Kopriva who were a part of the band. The first worship night consisted of about 30 friends and family, all of whom had a desire to come together in worship. Following this first worship night, David and Ben sought the Lord in questions regarding the nature of what worship night should be. They decided to simply continue these worship events once a month in the Kopriva’s barn.
After a few months of these gatherings, Will hopped on drums and another friend who came to the worship night hopped on piano. They started playing swing music. Everyone who was there started dancing to the music, and then it was decided to hold a dance after each worship event as a way of allowing and encouraging Christians to spend time in fellowship.
For the last three years, the heart of everyone involved has been to serve the community in whatever way God allows us to. Every month we are grateful and blessed to invite young people (and everyone else who desires to come) to these worship events. God has used this ministry to touch the lives of numerous people at these events. Through out all of it, in every event, in every fiber of our being, we pray that God be glorified. We pray that the name of Jesus would be recognized, honored, and spread throughout this nation. And we pray that Christians would walk in God’s best for them in all areas of life.
